Charles Fazzino

Charles Fazzino is a New York artist who was born and raised in Pelham. He now lives and works, with his wife Susan and daughter Heather-Lee, in upstate New York. Fazzino grew up in an extremely talented and very supportive family. His Finnish mother Irene is a well-known craftswomen and his Italian father was a high fashion shoe designer.

Fazzino studied at the Parson's School of Design, and then went on to get his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the School of Visual Arts. He began his meteoric accent into the art world as a street artist in the late 70's, exhibiting and selling his oversized 32 x 45 acrylic paintings at the bi-annual Washington Square Park Outdoor Art Festival in Greenwich Village. Collectors and dealers, recognizing his talent and potential, began buying his original canvases fasten then he could paint. Soon he was earning enough to support himself and his wife as well as traveling to Florida each winter to exhibit and sell his work at the Coconut Grove Art Festival, the Miami University Art Show and the Las Olas Museum Art Happening.

Fazzino's original works depicted the diverse neighborhoods and annual events he explored in his native New York City, but as his reputation spread, so did his interest in capturing the flavor and heartbeat of other cities. He went on to expand his works to other cities like Miami, L.A., San Francisco, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New Orleans and San Diego.

The demand for his pieces soared, and Fazzino was flooded with commissions that would take years to fill. It was at this stage of his career that he began to explore the realities of producing limited edition multiples of his work which could be reproduced by being printed from an original. The transition from street artist to art entrepreneur has begun and in less than 3 years, Fazzino created ten different editions, which they printed and sold to more than 50 galleries.

The creation of his works in an elaborate process from beginning to end that starts with extensive research on the subject. Then work is drawn... printed... hand-cut piece-by-piece... and finally constructed with pain taking precision. And although each work of art becomes a limited edition serigraph of mixed media lithograph, each piece is a unique original. This is achieved by raising, cutting and folding each piece differently to create the 3 dimensional ... and then as a final step, every piece is personalized with acrylic and glitter paint. Thus no two images are alike. His maze of the intricate details flows with precision, spontaneity and originality make his works look like an ever-changing kaleidoscope. Each pieces is a story book itself... one you can read and enjoy over and over again, and no matter how often you study one of his pieces, you will always discover something new going on that you missed before.

Many of his private and corporate clients have amassed impressive collections of his work in appreciation of their museum quality... and there is no doubt their minds that his work will soon be hanging in important museums around the world. Collectors such as Donald Trump, Marla Maples, Sam Donaldson, Larry King, Joan Rivers, ex-New York Mayor Ed Koch, Governors Donald Schaefer or Maryland and Mario Cuomo of New York, Phantom of the Opera's Michael Crawford, Priscilla Presley and Princess Gloria von Thurn have Charles Fazzino's whimsical and colorful 3-D serigraphs either hanging in their homes or offices.

To keep the public happy, and in response to their continous cry for "something new", Fazzino continues to bring in new editions of serigraphs.
